Relief For Forest

Finally, at long last, Forest get the result they deserved. I listened to it on BBC Radio Nottingham and Colin Frey had nothing but praise for the Forest performance in the first half.

Forest went in front with a rare, on target Cohen free-kick, which according to Frey found the net without a single touch from any player, probably catching out the Palace keeper. It sounded like Forest could have had more with Earnshaw having a fine effort saved by Speroni in the early stages. Palace never, it seemed, seriously troubled Forest in the first 45 minutes.

In the second half Palace but pressure on the Forest defence, however our back four sustained it. Only a handful of times did I hear that Palace got beyond them. There was a number of times when Colin Frey would say "Breckin heads clear", he seemed to be a welcome presence at the back for Forest.

Forest were undone in the 75th minute when Shefki Kuqi scored his second goal in two games against Forest this season. He bizarrely shot from around 25 yards into one of the bottom corners. It certainly took Frey by surprise, at the time he was announcing the Nottingham Panthers score, or about to. To be honest when Kuqi scored, I thought Forest were going to collapse, but they responded full of confidence. Matt Thornhill scored the winner late on after Perch's shot was parried into his path to secure Forest's first points and win, at long last, away from home this season.
